K&A values the importance of its role in shaping the future of design and construction, thus it is actively pursuing sustainability, at the corporate level and in the services it provides, as well as in society at large. Such commitment is translated into measures that aim at reducing the environmental impact of its activity, providing sustainable design and consulting services to its clients and promoting sustainability in the community.
Design Services
K&A Standard Design
Practice incorporates the best environmental principles into all aspects of
design and planning to apply sustainability measures and integrated long-term
measurable energy efficiency and eco-friendly solutions. A sustainability
research/advisory team and different green building rating systems professionals
assist designers through all projects stages and across all disciplines with
sustainable design principles, technologies, equipment, and material selections.
Engineers are using the most up-to-date software tools for integrated climate
responsive design, weather analysis, passive/active solar design, solar shading,
thermal modeling, energy efficiency, and others in order to reach the best
measurable quality in sustainable design and respond to the requirements of all
major green building rating systems and evolving building codes and standards.
Physical Premises
A CO2 management
plan, prepared for our headquarter offices in Beirut, aims at reducing the
greenhouse gas emissions resulting from our activity. Measures taken include
some renovations in our premises to reduce our energy consumption , improve
indoor air quality, and to promote greener office behavior among our staff to
reduce our consumption of resources and production of waste.
Community
K&A is committed to promoting sustainability beyond its offices to include the community and society in general. We are actively participating in sustainability projects that include our staff outside the office, local environmental NGOs, contractors, suppliers, as well as educational and regulatory institutions.
