The Information Technology (IT) department at Khatib & Alami was originally assigned the role of building, and continuously upgrading, the information tools, infrastructure and services that enable timely and effective answers to meet all K&A Management's visions and requirements. In 1978, K&A Management took a very brave decision in adopting the computer for automating and executing the internal financial work, and also in assisting the all the engineering departments to solve their sophisticated calculations and design problems. Accordingly, many engineering programs were developed, and the MIS was introduced by the created Data Processing department. |

In 1987, the department was renamed "The Computer Department" and was assigned the task of automating the engineering design and drafting work on the newly introduced PC platform. In 1998, the department was restructured, with its duties and responsibilities expanding, and thus renamed "The Information Technology (IT)" department. Under the full supervision, administration and control of
the IT Department, K&A now has more than 500 PC and Unix workstations - 200
of which are located at the Beirut headquarter office, and all of which are
networked and connected to internet, intranet and extranet facilities. This
highly sophisticated setup handles all kinds of engineering, MIS, financial,
GIS, CADD and communication work.
