Telecommunications

With the rising expectations for faster, better, and more responsive access to internet services, the widespread implementation of convergent triple play system, the predominance of virtual private networks, the liberalization of the communications sector, and the soaring implementation of services communications technology with its cutting-edge features. Telecommunications have become the figure of merit for most public and private projects, whether iconic or not. The Telecommunications Department in K&A became a well-distinct independent section, and is no longer embedded within the Electrical Department since the early nineties.

The main core of knowledge stemmed from the technology leadership in the major industries of oil/gas, utilities and public works. Beside the basic services such as strategic planning, integrated solutions, systems engineering and network architecture, our engineers focus on performance optimization, network resilience and disaster recovery.

The technologies covered by the telecommunications department include:

  • In-building systems.

  • Outside plant fiber and copper-premises distribution system for voice, data and video.

  • Voice switching: PABX, local and transit central offices, and next generation switching networks.

  • Fiber transmission: backbone and FTTx technologies.

  • Multiplexing systems: microwave transmission voice, data and video.

  • Satellite transmission voice, data and video.

  • Two-way and trucking radio networks (TETRA).

  • Cellular networks (GSM, CDMA, etc.).

  • Wireless data (WiFi and WIMAX)-Telecom traffic management.

  • Telecom facility management.

  • Vehicle and person locations systems.

  • SCADA and telemetry networks.

  • Advanced metering infrastructure.
