SDP: Absolute Commitment to Sudan

Between February 12 and 14, 2006, Khatib & Alami (K&A) participated in an official government-endorsed event held in full dedication to the development of Sudan. Held in Dubai by the title of ‘Sudan Development Program Summit’ (SDP), the event was organized to promote trade and investment opportunities in the country, and to allow the maximum interaction between the leaders of the public and private sectors in Sudan and interested parties of the business world.

Proactively working toward this goal, a Sudanese delegation of over 70 governmental ministers, regional governors and senior advisors, were present and all prepared to cover and present several industrial and economic sectors in Sudan to a wide audience. A number of workshops, keynote addresses and expert seminars were given to cover particularly the following sectors: Finance & Investment, Oil, Gas & Mining, Energy, Industry, Trade, Tourism, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Agriculture & Irrigation, Technology, Transport, Security, and Logistics.

Among the participating international companies, Khatib & Alami was active in the conference and the exhibition. Dr. Najib Khatib and Abdul-Kader Hashem were present along with Hassan Othman, from Sudan office, where they met with public and private sector leaders in Sudan and discussed future opportunities.

K&A has been operating in Sudan since 2002. The company has been recently awarded a GIS contract with the Khartoum State Water Corporation and another contract for the design of Umm Haraz Bridge (length of 900 m) over the White Nile River in Khartoum, in addition to the design and construction-supervision of Al Mogran Tower project (31,400 m2 built-up area).
