| Khatib&Alami signs a cooperation agreement with Space Imaging Middle East at the ESRI user conference. |  |

On December 8, 2004, Khatib & Alami (K&A) signed a cooperation agreement with Space Imaging Middle East (SIME) at the ESRI user Conference, which was held for three days in Dubai, between December 7 and 9, at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel. This agreement will enable SIME to add specialized GIS solutions to the market place, which consists of satellite and aerial based imagery, digital maps, and GIS solutions for hosting and publishing data. “The cooperation will give us access to a K&A long term expertise in the field of GIS and will enable us to provide our clients with specialized GIS solutions” said Mohamed El Kadi, Managing Director, SIME.

Through this agreement SIME will become K&A’s preferred provider of imagery and related products. Capitalizing on its recent partnership with Sanborn Inc., one of North America leading companies in the field of aerial photography, SIME will also offer K&A the latest in lidar and digital aerial imagery. On this, Faisal Alami, Finance and Development Director, K&A commented: “As consultants and solution providers handling large-scale projects in the region we have several mapping requirements for which we need a reliable partner who can deliver to us flawless satellite and aerial imagery and related products in a timely manner” .He added “The satellite and aerial imagery that SIME offers will enable us to generate maps with different scales”. SIME base maps extracted from satellite and aerial imagery are used in K&A various GIS and consultancy projects.
“Our cooperation with K&A along with our partnership with Sanborn Inc. in the US will create a synergistic effect and will enable us to enhance our offering to the regional marketplace” said El Kadi. He added: “Today, due to our partnerships we can provide the full range of data, the complete geo-spatial solution, and integration”.
In addition to Sanborn Inc., SIME technology network includes some of the most prestigious names in the regional and global market. In Europe SIME has teamed up with DLR, the German Aerospace center to operate a ground station and provide large scale hosting &delivery systems and with GAF AG of Munich to provide in depth remote sensing studies and researches. In Asia, SIME has entered in a technical partnership with Mappoint Asia of Thailand the provider of vehicle tracking and fleet management systems. Benefiting from this extensive network, SIME acts as a platform that introduces the latest GIS innovations to the region, and translates them to usable Geospatial solutions integrated into client systems.
The framework of cooperation also involves several activities to raise the overall GIS awareness and promote the industry in the region.
