Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) commissioned K&A to evaluate the use of Bahrain International Airport’s emergency runway. The study ensures safe and uninterrupted operations while the main runway undergoes refurbishment.
Evaluating the Emergency Runway
The feasibility study assesses all factors needed to confirm the safe operation of the airport’s secondary runway. The scope covers:
- Weather and visibility analysis
- Runway length evaluation
- Airspace procedures and capacity studies
- Ground operations planning
- Safety assessments in line with international aviation codes

“A big challenge in our current project is the short time we have to finish it, along with the large amount of data needed for a proper analysis.
