Jeddah Stadium: Structural Innovation for a World-Class Venue
The Jeddah Stadium project is a landmark sports facility designed to host large crowds while meeting international standards of safety, comfort, and performance. Commissioned by the Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC), the project required innovative structural solutions to balance speed, stability, and user experience under a highly demanding schedule.
K&A acted as Architect and Engineer of Record, delivering structural engineering alongside architectural, geotechnical, civil, and multidisciplinary services. Our role spanned project management, design guardianship, and technical integration, ensuring that structural integrity was at the heart of every decision.
Tackling Structural Challenges
The project faced significant engineering hurdles. Construction timelines were shortened, requiring methods that could accelerate delivery without compromising quality. Radial racker beams and bleacher systems initially failed to meet crowd vibration frequency limits. Complex load transfers demanded transfer columns, while the sheer scale of the foundation required careful control of differential settlement.
Engineering Precise and Resilient Solutions
K&A adopted a full precast structural system, accelerating the construction schedule while maintaining precision. An internally developed Route 2 vibration check ensured compliance with crowd safety and comfort standards. Our teams introduced inclined columns with tie beams to effectively manage complex load transfers. We also implemented a piled foundation system to mitigate settlement risks and guarantee long-term stability.

We delivered the Jeddah Stadium project within the constrained schedule while meeting stringent structural performance requirements. Through precast systems, advanced vibration analysis, and foundation engineering, K&A enabled the creation of a venue that combines efficiency, durability, and safety on a large scale.
