Founded in Lebanon, Growing since 1964
We’ve led before. We’re ready to lead what’s next. Founded in Lebanon in 1964, Khatib & Alami began with a mission to use integrated design and engineering to deliver meaningful, lasting change. From those early foundations, we grew into a global consultancy with offices across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

THE BEGINNING

A new partnership begins, the birth of KHATIB & ALAMI.
BUILDING DREAMS
- In 1969, K&A enters Saudi Arabia with a major highway project.
- In 1972, wins a landmark competition to design the Holiday Inn Hotel in Bahrain.
- By 1973, operations expand to Oman.
- In 1974, regional offices open in the UAE, KSA, Bahrain, and Oman.
FROM ACADEMIC ROOTS TO GLOBAL IMPACT
- Between 1971–1982, K&A delivers 170+ projects and grows to 10 offices across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman, employing 630+ staff.
- 1982 marks the launch of K&A’s first four aviation projects in KSA and the completion of the Ras El Khaimah Bridge in the UAE.
- In the 1980s, the firm becomes known for high-end educational facilities, including Abu Dhabi’s Language Institute & Teaching Aid Center and Bahrain’s College of Medicine & Medical Sciences.
SHAPING THE FUTURE OF ENGINEERING AND URBAN PLANNING
- In 1984, K&A enters ENR’s Top 100 International Design Firms, affirming its role as a global engineering leader.
- In 1988, delivers its first GIS project (Muscat, Oman), paving the way for future innovation.
A JOURNEY OF GROWTH AND INNOVATION
- By 2000, K&A expands geographically and diversifies into new disciplines and technologies.
- In 2002, launches its first railway project, the North–South Railway in KSA.
EXPANDING HORIZONS AND REDEFINING EXCELLENCE
- By 2007, the firm launches two major entities in Egypt, strengthening its footprint across the region.
A DIGITAL REVOLUTION
- Between 2015 - 2024, K&A opens offices in India, Singapore, Basra, Uganda, and Zanzibar, reinforcing its global presence.
- In 2015, K&A launches its Corporate Transformation Program, strengthening internal capabilities and preparing for rapid evolution.
The initiative includes the integration of SAP ERP and CRM systems to enhance performance, transparency, and scalability. - In 2023, establishes its new local headquarters in Riyadh.
